Researching social media page

Hi readers, I decided to research Ariana Grande's social media page, (since the song I have in mind for my music video was created when social media wasn't really a way promotion and communication) to see how she has promoted her new album. When I started researching I also read some other articles related to it. Ariana created mystery amongst her fans by dropping studio hints, which was the indication of her soft return.

Ariana hadn’t released an album since Positions (2020) and spent 2022–2023 filming Wicked. This long gap created natural curiosity. Before the album announcement, Ariana changed her Instagram aesthetic by archiving her older posts and shared soft, vintage-toned images. This created mystery and speculation among fans — a common media technique to build buzz (known as viral ambiguity). Ariana dropped short video clips and images with Eternal Sunshine-style visuals (sunlight, lens flares, handwritten text). Her first clear teaser was on January 17, 2024: She posted a short video clip of her sitting at a desk, writing lyrics, paired with cinematic music and a dreamy filter. No caption—which created mystery and tons of speculation online. This vague storytelling approach echoed the emotional confusion and memory themes in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (the film that inspired the album).

After Positions (2020), Ariana stepped back from releasing music. And focused on, acting in Wicked, launching and promoting her beauty brand, R .E .M Beauty. This absence created demand- fans were hungry for her next era to be released Rare public appearances and selective online activity added to the mystery. Created the idea that something big was coming—a classic example of the “less is more” strategy.

  • Posted cryptic captions like “see you soon” and “☀️." She used symbolism (sunlight = hope/healing) and intertextual references (inspired by the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).
